Why do you need Inventory of
Hazardous Materials (IHM)
Report?
It is mandatory for
ships operating in the marine
environment, which are equal to or
above 500 GT to keep an IHM. Navy
ships and domestic ships are
excluded. The inventory replaces the
Green Passport, adopted in the Hong
Kong International Convention in
2009. It is a requirement by the IMO
RESOLUTION MEPC.269(68) and EU Ship
Recycling Regulation 2013.
What is Inventory of Hazardous
Materials (IHM)?
Inventory of Hazardous
Material (IHM) is a document
identifying all potentially
hazardous materials onboard a
vessel. Hidden hazards are
identified, located and quantified
following IMO Resolution guidelines.
The inventory replaces the Green
Passport, adopted in the Hong Kong
International Convention in 2009,
and is a requirement by the EU Ship
Recycling Regulation 2013.
When IHM Report Part 1-2-3 should be
ready?
If your vessel will go
to ship recycling then your vessel
will need IHM Report Part 1-2-3 for
compliance to EU Regulation and

If your vessel has ACM (Asbestos
Containing Materials) what will you
do?
You need to removal
your ACM in 3 years. The managing
company has submitted an action plan
to the Administration to have the
asbestos removed in line with the
requirements of MSC.1/Circ.1374,
paragraph 13 by a professional
asbestos removal company.
In the meantime, procedures are
adopted in the safety management
system taking into account the
guidelines of MSC/Circ.1045, to
ensure at least that:
· All possible risks caused by the
temporary remaining asbestos are
identified
· All applicable crew and possible
subcontractors are aware of the
presence of asbestos and are aware
of the dangers.
· Appropriate measures are taken to
protect all people concerned, such
as marking of the ACM's and
providing necessary personal
protection equipment (suitable
breathing masks, protective
clothing, .... )and appropriate
instructions.
